About our South American Blend AAA 90-point DECAF
This is our own blend of 100% Arabica, de-caffeinated (Mountain Water-process), South American coffee beans, grown in some of the highest altitudes of South America's coffee valleys. These are not "run-of-the-mill" decaf coffee beans.
We are proud to report that the July 2010 issue of coffeereview.com, the world's leading coffee buying guide, ranked us as the best decaf coffee in North America; the only one with a score of 90 points. Thank you, Coffee Review! Obviously, these coffee beans are new crop, not the ones reviewed in 2010, but we cup all blends ourselves and we like these even better.
We sourced these beans directly from producers and had them decaffeinated at the Descamex plant in Veracruz, Mexico. They were decaffeinated using the patented, chemical-free, Mountain Water process, which removes caffeine from coffee beans without the use of solvents or chemicals. Traditional decaffeinated coffee uses methylene chloride (MC) to remove the caffeine. So if you do not want artificial chemicals in your coffee, make sure to choose naturally water decaffeinated coffee.
These beans were packed in GrainPro bags at origin, then re-packed in GrainPro after de-caffeination. They will be shipped to you in a boxed, burlap bag or GrainPro bag, depending on the amount you buy.
