Alberto is not only an accomplished coffee farmer, but is also an elderly  leader the community  of the San Ignacio.

We got to know Don Alberto through our special relationship with the San Ignacio community. We are committed to purchasing the best coffees from San Ignacio, and pay a premium based on quality. The higher the cupping score, the higher our cash price. We have multi-year contracts with their producers. We visit them at least three times times a year. Our last visit was in April of 2023.

Don Alberto tells us that his parents were coffee growers. When he was 12 years old, he tried different agricultural products and discovered that Specialty coffee was the "most rentable" (most benefit), specially when exported.  He worked with Coop Antofagasta for four years where he learned about Specialty coffee processing, before striking on his own. His farm has 9 hectares, of which 2.5 are planted with coffee. His yearly capacity of exportable coffee is 20 to 25 bags.

Don Alberto is the " go to" and elderly leader of San Ignacio, to whom all the younger farmers look up to.  Couple of years ago he started growing the Pacamara variety with great success. His Pacamaras sell out before the harvest, but he says a lot more is coming in 2023!
